"Third Party Modification Policy"

Question: What is IMC/AKAI's policy regarding "third party" development? Are schematics available? Are you interested in encouraging and/or incorporating modifications? Do you see the EWI/EVI as an instrument that can grow and expand with the needs of professionals or a one time model that will be superceded by the next generation of wind synths?

Answer: IMC does not encourage anyone to make modifications on an instrument which is still under warranty, since the warranty will be voided by doing so. However, it is up to the individual to decide whether to perform such modifications or not. Schematics are available to anyone wanting them after they have returned a signed non-disclosure agreement (available from IMC). Details concerning the ownership of improvements and any licensing agreements will be found in that document.
