The 3020 controller with the PCM 3030m module will run about an additional $200.00 The consideration is what type of sounds you want. In order to hear the thing you'll need an amp, speakers or headphones. If you go with the 3020m you'll need a reverb unit as it has no built in effects. Reverb is necessary to make an electronic instrument sound natural. For this reason you may want to consider the 3030m which has built in effects (reverb). As a bare minimum you could plug headphones directly into the 3030m. It would be a good place to start.
