Question: How do I fix the 3020m velocity problem?

From Akai's press release:  Unofficial Upgrade Now Available to Correct the Akai 3020m Velocity Problem  July 21, 1999 -- The IWSA has received the following announcement from Akai regarding their correction to the 3020m velocity problem.  Akai Musical Instrument Corporation has agreed to make operating system V1.02 for the EWI3020m available as a "maintenance" release. This operating system has been enhanced to correctly transmit MIDI velocity data, however testing of V1.02 has not been completed and some bugs may be present. Please use operating system V1.02 at your own risk. The V1.02 upgrade is available on EPROM directly from AMIC for a cost of $29.95, however AMIC recommends that a qualified service technician performs the installation due to a potential shock hazard. You can obtain your copy by contacting AMIC's Parts Sales department and requesting a copy of V1.02 for the EWI3020m. AMIC can be found at:
