Keep
pressing the "MIDI" button until the following is
displayed:
CPT:00
VELO:00
CPT is an abbreviation for "Capture Time" and it should be
adjusted according to the breath rising time and its strength. An
example is shown in Figures 1 &2 below:
As shown in Fig-1,
"CPT" time needs to be adjusted rather long when it is
played with slow breath rising. "CPT" time needs to be
adjusted rather short with it is played with fast breath rising, as
shown in Fig-2 for proper MIDI velocity detection and transmission
from the EWV-2000.
The breath rising
time will be different depending on the breath control knob settin
on the front panel of the EWV-2000 and the way it is played, so
adjust "CPT" time with the velocity values (0 - 127) which
will be shown on the right hand side of the LC display when it is
played and transmitted.
Note 1: If
"Threshold" gets greater, lower velocity data will not be
output.
Note 2: Press the "MIDI" button again to be out of this
mode.
Note 3: Set "CPT" time=00, if the fised velocity data (64)
is to be used.
Here are Nyle
Steiner's thoughts on MIDI velocity transmission: "I find
velocity almost useless for wind-type sounds. Since wind sounds are
basically of a "control during sustain" nature, they don't
work well with velocity which is an "attack only" type of
control. I do, however, find velocity very useful for piano and
percussion type sounds."

you have the Velocity Chip Upgrade, go
